For each species below (i) give the hybridization of the central atoms and (ii) give the shape for the atom in the ion. Provide a brief reason for your selection of shape, (a) –CH3 (B) + CH3

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you can start this by drawing lewis diagrams, then assigning VSPER \((AX_E)\)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i guess you can assume a lone pair to be a ligand (X) for the anion

been trying it and my answer is for first sp3 hyb. and tetrahedral trigonal pyramid because 4 electron density areas with one non bonding pair. would i be correct?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yeah, the first one would be \(sp^3\) which makes it tetrahedral
