OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

If metal x which has a valence of 3 reacts with HNO3 and produce the metal nitrate , NO2 and H2O write the balance chemical reaction for the above instance hint : - x + HNO3 ---> X(NO3)3 + NO2 H2o

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

sorry hint should be x + HNO3 ---> X(NO3)3 +NO2 +H2O

@ganeshie8 , @thomaster , @UnkleRhaukus , @uri ,

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

I have to use half reactions and oxidation number here but here's where I get stuck half reaction x ---->x(NO3)3 when balancing the above reaction should I have to add 3N to the left hand side in order to balance the 3N on righ hand side ?

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

@dumbcow , @AravindG , @thomaster , @Nurali ,@robtobey @Yahoo! any1 Pls help me!

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

M +3 +6HNO3 ------> M(NO3)3 + 3NO2 +3H2O

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

Bro... Could u help me to build up the 2 half reactions here ...?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

what half reactions

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

half reaction is either the oxidation or reduction reaction component of a redox reaction here I think the 2 half reactions must be x ---->x(NO3)3 and (NO3)- ----> NO2

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

I need to balance them

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

yo bro .... I think I got it. bt any way thank u very much!

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

ur welcome good :)
