Find the P-value see attachment.

I at least need to know what x=? so then i can find the P-value. I thought it was 25 but the end answer keeps coming out wrong.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

sorry took so long http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistical_hypothesis_testing#Common_test_statistics use formula for 1 proportion z-test p = 25/800 p_o = 0.019

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU! I'll try the rest and let you know what i get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p=25/800=0.03 right? so then i do \[z _{0}=\frac{ 0.03-0.019 }{ \sqrt{\frac{ 0.019(1-0.019) }{ 800 }} }\]

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes except i wouldnt round that much.....25/800 = 0.03125

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

then look up z in a z-table to find p-value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if i am doing this right then the answer is 2.54 then i look up 2.5 &0.04 it the z-table?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then the P-value is 0.9945= rounded to the three decimal place is 0.995?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oh sorry i should have mentioned, p-value here refers to probability in the tail P(Z>2.54) the table gives probability P(Z<2.54) p = 1-.9945 = .0055 low p-value means reject null hypothesis...in other words the sample of .03125 is statistically greater than .019 so you can conclude the alternative hypothesis

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

low means its lower than alpha (a=.05) .0055 < .05

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P-value= 0.006
