Which of the following contains a coordinate covalent bond? NH4^+ Cu(NH3)4^+2 PbCl2 I really don't understand what a coordinate covalent bond is.. PLEASE HELP!! test in 30 minutes!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it means diatomic which I know there is only a few but I still don't fully understand.):

OpenStudy (aaronq):

http://www.chemguide.co.uk/atoms/bonding/dative.html i think it would be \(Cu(NH_3)_4^+\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried that but it's not right.. ):

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no, sorry it's \(NH_4+\)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

look at the link i posted

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not that either.. ): I tried that one earlier.. Ok I will!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

a dative bond is apparently where both of the bonding electrons come from one atom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that such as H2, N2, F2,.. And so on. But in compounds it's a little bit more complicated. I thought i grasped the concept but my answer is still wrong I guess.. Maybe I'll just use up all my tries and see what the real answer is..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome link BTW, it was really helpful. I'm gonna use that method on each compound given!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

good stuff! and good luck !

Thank youu! and also thanks for all your help BTW!!(:
