Provide an example of an isolated energy system and explain how it could be changed to create an open energy system.

You could say a bomb calorimeter is an isolated (adiabatic) system. the insulated housing prevents heat and mater to excape into the enviorment. to make it an open system take of the insulated lid.

In an isolated system, neither matter nor energy is permitted to exchange with the surroundings. This means that the total amount of energy and matter contained in an isolated system will remain constant, because energy and matter cannot enter or leave. In an open system, both matter and energy (often in the form of heat) are exchanged freely between the system and the surroundings.
