Which one of the following has higher boiling point? CH3CH2OCH3 or CH3CH2NHCH3. I'm still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think CH3CH2NHCH3 has the higher boiling point. It has an amine group, which as a N-H bond. This allows hydrogen bonding between molecules to occur. CH3CH2OCH3 has weaker intermolecular bonds.

first look for hydrogen bonding, then the size of the molecule, then at polarity.

OpenStudy (matt101):

@Wariety is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wasn't disagreeing with wariety I was simply giving a step by step way to approach these problems.

OpenStudy (matt101):

Didn't say you were - I agree with you too!

Cool deal
