I've got not idea what to do? Do i use intergration? Find the area between the curves y =3x^2 + 1 and y = 2x + 2 : Include a sketch of the curves and the enclosed area.
yes, you use integration
let f=3x^2+1; let g=2x+2 integrate the difference (f-g) between the interval there they intersect. you can ignore the sign if you get a negative result.
Interesting. Someone else asked the same question: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5243ab3ae4b0a03c277fea16
... i noticed you stated the top/bottom like the textbooks do. I find that step to be morally redundant :) the area between the curves is an absolute value such that the order in which you do the subtraction is moot. \[|5-3|=|3-5|\]
I only started calculus this semester so I have a lot to learn.
oh, you did fine on it :)
i just find that step to be extra work that is not that necessary; helps shave time off when taking exams
Thanks :). I'm still a bit nervous working with negatives around area but I have a month before my exam to iron that out.
