How many joules of heat energy are needed to completely change 14.0 g of water to steam at the boiling temperature?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

this question is a little different from your previous one. use the formula \(q=x*\Delta H_{vap}\) x = mass or moles, depending on what the units of \(\Delta H_{vap}\) are.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand this at all. especially since all Im given is 14.0 g

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you'd have to be given \(\Delta H_{vap}\) or be expected to look it up in for book.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does the x and q stand for in this

OpenStudy (aaronq):

q is always heat energy x=mass, or moles, it depends on what \(\Delta H_{vap}\) is in units of.
