what is the difference between real gas and ideal gas?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

a real gas is basically not an ideal gas. Lol. this is mainly due to interactions between gas molecules. For an ideal gas it follows this formula as you might know (ideal gas law): \(\sf \color{red}{pV = nRT}\). If pV and nRT are the same, and you divide one by the other, then the answer = 1. For real gases, pV doesn't equal nRT, and so the values vary.
