How do you create balanced chemical equations? Ex. 1. CaCO3(s) + CH3CO2H(aq) = 2. CaCO3(S) + NaHCO3(aq) = 3. Zn(s) + CH3CO2H(aq)= * the numbers are subscripts btw

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you need to know what kind of reaction is going on (which you identify by the reactants).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly don't even know where to begin. I was just told to complete this worksheet full of these equations. We never went over these.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

thats unfortunate. I would google each of the these i can help you with the first one: CaCO3(s) + CH3CO2H(aq) -> salt + water ...+ CO2 (because of the carbonate) ^base ^acid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you. Is it possible for all of them to have no reaction?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the 2nd might, the 3rd will have a reaction it's Zn metal + acid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. I'll try to make a sense out of it. Thank you for your help.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem. Check your book, these reactions are very common
