ok so think about mph as a fraction. 32 mph = 32 miles / 60 minutes = 0.533333 miles per minute. It took her 1/4 hour or 15 minutes, so 15 x 0.5333333 = 8 miles for small road. same for highway. 56 miles / 60 minutes = 0.9333333 miles per minute and took 30 minutes, so 30 x 0.9333333 = 28 miles 28 miles + 8 miles = 36 miles.
