Can you help me with this question? Nicotine molecule is slightly hydrophobic. Change nicotine into a different molecule, one that is more hydrophilic.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

to increase the hydrophilicity of a compound remove hydrophobic (no-poalr) functional groups and add hydrophilic (polar) functional groups.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it matter whether or not i replace the non polar with a polar function? Or can i just put it anywhere? (as long as it connects)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

even if you don't remove the non-polar groups, by adding polar one you're increasing it's hydrophilicity.

Right, of course. Thanks Broski
