i need an explanation for this balancing please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster can you help me understand something about this equation..im kind of confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aaronq where did the 6 come from?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it came from the Sn(OH)6 on the other side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also the S3 and the 2 outside the SnS3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but it was not there originally

OpenStudy (aaronq):

youre balancing it though, so that 6 is the factor you would use to balance it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why not 2 instead?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the OH

OpenStudy (aaronq):

because you have 6 OH's not 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but somehow the ^above is the balanced

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first post

OpenStudy (aaronq):

right. now look at the other side (right) theres Sn(OH)6 with 6 OH's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i feel like the 6 came out of nowhere with the original equation @aaronq

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it didnt come out nowhere, it came from the products

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the original equation.....|dw:1381796262020:dw| how would you balance this?
