What is the speed, in miles per hour of a point on the equator due to the rotation of earth? Assume that the earth is a sphere of radius 4000 miles. :|

i got as far as figuring out the circumference and realizing it would go that far in 24 hours

ok, we knowed that the Earth makes a complete rotation every 24 hours, we knowed that we travel along the circumference of a circle, and that it takes 24 hours. All we need to do now is find that circumference and divide by the total time, 24 hours, to get the speed. btw, circumference = 2 pi r

i did that, finding the circumference: 2pi4000=25132.1 and i know it moves that much every 24 hours, but i have the answer written down on my paper and 25132.1/24 isn't 1047..wait.. oh wow.. it is... umm.. what the heck? i knew it the whole time but mussed of messed up with the circumference.. thanks anyway :P
