how do you find the balanced formation equation for Ca3(PO4)2 at standard conditions

OpenStudy (jfraser):

the same way as finding the formation of HI, use the elements in their standard states. There are more elements in this formula, but the steps are exactly the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So far I have gotten 3 Ca + _______+ 4 O2 --> 1 Ca3(PO4)2, I can't figure out what it would be for phosphorous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know you mentioned putting the elements in their standard states so I tried P and P3 neither of those are correct

OpenStudy (jfraser):

phosphorus comes as \(P_4\) in nature, so try that one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That worked, I got 1/2 P4 to make it (PO4)2
