In the chapter of chemistry homework I'm doing, it's talking about making 2 moles NaCl. In 2 different parts it says "1 mole Cl2 = 2 X 17 grams Cl = 34 grams Cl2" I don't understand how this makes any sense. Wouldn't 1 mole of Cl be 35 grams since 35 is its amu? And then 2 moles would be 70 grams?

35.5g

because mass (g) = moles x Mr so you're doing 1 x 35.5 = 35.5g :)
