From a practice quiz: Element Gallium has two isotopes with masses 70.9249 amu and 68.9257 amu. Determine the % abundance of each isotope. Molar mass of gallium = 69.72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess i could help you ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty sure that the equation is 70.9249(x) + 68.9257(y) = 69.72 I need to solve for x and y which are percentages, x +y = 100%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you are right ... but take the percentages to be x and (100-x) that is how you will get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait im calculating it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhh, ty,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hehe wait ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

34.49% of and 65.51%?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 34.49% represents the first of the two isotopes in the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here see for your self
