Can anybody answer why I go this question wrong. "Acids form ions in solution so they are ionic compounds" Why is this not true?

bases also forn ions for eg NaOH Na+ OH-

we cannot generalize it for example if u take NaCl which is ionic compound when it dissociates it forms Na+ And Cl- which are a not acidic ions. To have acidity u should have H+ ions so u can rewrite ur statement Acids forms H+ ions in solutions it can be acceptable
