Geometry >> http://prntscr.com/1z3lwp Okay, so lets say I wanted to find z here. I already know that 8 will be multiplied by 2, so I get 16 in the spot of x. Now how would I get z? Been looking at this forever.
@thomaster , @ganeshie8
Are we to understand that these are similar polygons?
You would use proportions.
Yes sir.
I don't really understand teh porportions that well.
Then corresponding sides have equal ratios.
Looks like the original polygon is scaled down by a certain factor . Find out the factor by comparing BC and FG. Apply the same factor to the rest of the lengths.
So \[\frac{8}{6}=\frac{10}{z}\]
Eight six over ten z? Why would we do that? Side 8 and 6 aren't congruent.
He is talking about sides BC and FG. you would use to corresponding sides from the polygons. that is why it is 8/6=10/z
8/6 = 10/z 60 = 8z 7.5 = z z = 7.5
yep
yes exactly!! :)
Bazinga.
lol big bang theory all the way :)
