Help rationalizing the denominator of..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st, simplify that denominator (7 - 3i) + (2 + 5i) 9 + 2i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now we have sqrroot(-4) / 9 + 2i Do you know what to do now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide the square root of of -4 by 9+2i?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want to multiply by the conjugate of 9 + 2i, which is 9 - 2i \[\frac{ \sqrt{-4} }{ 9+2i }\times \frac{ 9-2i }{ 9-2i }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay, i remember that part now, so how would I multiply square root of -4 by 9-2i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually sqrt(-4) should be written as 2i. You don't want the square root of a negative in your answer. So the numerator will be 2i(9 - 2i) 18i + 4 4 + 18i

i have one more question about the numerator...can I ask please?
