1. Why did Mendeleev leave gaps in his early periodic table, and what was the ultimate importance of the gaps? Answer: Well he left gaps for the elements that had not yet been discovered. So he had predicted that more elements where going to be discovered. So it was important because this led for an opportunity for people in the future could find and place them in the correct properties that are alike.
