is hydrogen bonds strong or weak? since i read that water (H2O) has a high boiling point compared to alcohol and that the stronger the bond the higher the boiling point. But I've also been taught that hydrogen bond is the weakest bond. So what am I missing guys? Can you guys help me?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Hydrogen bonds are weak in comparison to covalent bonds, but they are strong when talking about non-covalent interactions - which mediate intermolecular forces that determine physical properties of substances (MP. BP, etc).

oh yea another question, what is the difference between intermolecular forces and intramolecular forces?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

inter- means between adjacent molecules (different molecules) intra- means within the same molecule
