Given the function f(x) = 5(x+4) − 6, solve for the inverse function when x = 19.

@hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, you could find inverse function and then plug in x=19 other shorter way is to set 5(x+4) − 6 = 19 and find 'x' both answer will be same

hartnn (hartnn):

can you find x from 5(x+4) − 6 = 19 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do I distribute the 5 first?

hartnn (hartnn):

add the '6' on both sides

hartnn (hartnn):

you can distribute the 5 first too, no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=1?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes!

hartnn (hartnn):

correct, good :)

hartnn (hartnn):

the inverse function when x = 19. is = 1

Thank you so much!

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
