Calculating the number of moles of product? For the balanced equation: Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) -> MgCl2(aq) + H2(g) we used .10g of Mg and the mass of the solution is 42.64g. And For the balanced equation: MgO(s) + 2HCl(aq) -> MgCl2(aq) + H2O(l) we used .50g of MgO and the mass of the solution is 52.40g.
