Yeah course no prob! In general, a line passing through points \((x_1,y_1)\textit{ and }(x_2,y_2)\) has the slope, \(m\): \[m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\]
So in our case we have: \[m=\frac{6-0}{2-4}=-\frac{6}{2}=-3\] So then we can substitute the slope into the formula for a line: \[y=mx+b\to y=-3x+b\] And we can put in any of the two points in for x and y and solve for b; i'll choose \((4,0)\): \[0=-3(4)+b\to0=-12+b\to b=12\] So then we end up with the equation: \[y=-3x+12=-3(x-4)\]
Which is C haha To prove it, put 4 into x and you should obtain 0; put 2 into x and you should obtain 6
So, you pretty much plug-in after solving, and you're golden?
