The function y= -0.296x^2 +2.7x models the length x and height y that your sisters rabbit can jump, in centimeters. How high does the rabbit jump? What is the length of the jump? A: 2.7 cm high; 0.296 cm long B: 6.2 cm high; 9.1 cm long C: 4.6 cm high; 6.2 cm long D: 9.1 cm high; 6.2 cm long
solve for the vertex \[\left( \frac{ -b }{ 2a },f(x) \right)\]
i put the function into that form?
solve for x first and then use that value to solve for y
the x can be solved by the formula I gave -b/(2a)
im lost how do i solve for x
please help me!!!!
ok, so here you are trying to find the vertex and the two times when y=0
fortunately the vertex is right between the two time when y=0 and one of these times is at (0, 0)
sorry...but where the h*** do they come up with these questions? who models the jump of rabbit with quadratic equations????? sorry for the rant......(breaths)(calms down)
so find the other solution for 0 = -0.296x^2 +2.7x
i thought i was supposed to graph the formula
0=2.787616
is that x=2.787616?
yes
i dont think i did that right
what did you do?
i added like terms
the easy way to find the other zero is to factor out an x from your original equation (factor out an x because you know that x=0 is another zero)
0 = -0.296x +2.7
i honestly don't know what i"m supposed to be doing
|dw:1383105827065:dw|
|dw:1383105877198:dw|
the answer is 4.6 cm high; 6.2cm long
thanks:)
it isn't 6.2 cm long
it's 6.2 cm high
