An object O is just about to strike a perfectly reflecting inclined plane of inclination 37 degree..its velocity is 5m/s .find velocity of its image !!
its velocity will be v * cos(37) as in the mirror you will only be able to make out its horizontal component.
No buddy the answer is 4.8 i + 1.4 j Well I did it but do not know the genuineness of the answer you try again :)
i actually need the diagram... i think i am interpreting it in a wrong way... please send a diagram
i think the object is moving in horizontal direction. and the plane is inclined at 37 degree with respect to the ground. is it so?? then ill solve it again
|dw:1383141899013:dw| is it like this??
I have clicked the pic I hope you can get the idea as pic is not clean enough
|dw:1383143866945:dw| arrows indicate the direction of motion of image... after this we need to resolve these two components in the x and y direction instead of direction along the plane. I think we will get the answer by this
Well I did it by applying some geometry concept. First thing that the image will be formed perpendicular to the mirror right?
So from previous comment we see that we simply get the result that the total velocity will be 5 m/s but only the direction of image is changed. SO we need to find the angle with respect to ground. now simply resolve this in x and y which is 5(cos(16) i + sin(16) j) |dw:1383144292844:dw|
That mean we will take perpendicular distance from object for finding its image.
