4x^2 < 9 help please c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a quadratic inequality btw. :o

OpenStudy (ranga):

Divide both sides by 4. Take the square root on both sides. Note: a square root has both negative and positive roots. So solve both cases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4x^2-9<0\] \[(2x+3)(2x-3)<0\] zeros are at \(-\frac{3}{2}\) and \(\frac{3}{2}\) and since \[y=4x^2-9\]is a parabola that opens up, it is negative between the zeros

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and of course \[4x^2-9<0\] is the same as solving "for which \(x\) is \(4x^2-9\) negative"
