A hydraulic press for compacting powdered samples has a large cylinder which is 10.0 cm in diameter, and a small cylinder with a diameter of 2.0 cm. A lever is attached to the small cylinder as shown in (Figure 1) . The sample, which is placed on the large cylinder, has an area of 4.0 cm2. What is the pressure on the sample if F = 350N is applied to the lever?

first found the Pressure of small cylinder P=F/A P = 700N/ 3.14x10^-4 = 2229299.363 then found force for hydraulic fluid F = (2229299.363) (0.0079m2) = 17611.46N then find then pressure of sample P = 17611.46 / 0.04 = 440286.6242 Pa
this is is wrong, i dont seee why it would be wrong?
4 cm² is not 0.04 m²
ohh right! i totally forgot, it would be 4x 10^-4
yep!
yessss finally got it...thank you soo much!
440286.6242 has an excessive number of significant figures. Besides, the right answer is 4.375 10^7 Pa Forget about \(\pi\) in your calculation. Left cylinder has just a surface area 25 times as large as that of right cylinder.
yes i got that answer, thank you very much =D me and my silly mistakes lol
