What is the value of x in the figure?
what figure?
@JesseJ0906
what have you tried?
Must be 96 degrees, because you have an isosceles triangle, so angle next to it is also 42, and the remaining angle is 96 degrees (as all 3 angles must add up to 180). Angle x is the vertical angle, so it is also 96 degrees. Vertical angles are equal.
When two sides of a triangle are equal, the angles opposite them are equal.
ive tried the options are 96º 42º 106º
So you have two base angles equal in that upper triangle.
@megan11 Do you see in the upper triangle, the two base angles of the isosceles triangle?
|dw:1384487851203:dw|
two angles whose sum is 84 degrees; remaining angle is 180 - 84 = 96
Therefore, the opposite angle is also 96 as it is a vertical angle to the 96-degree angle in the upper triangle.
every triangle must have 180 degrees since the given was 2 congruent angles isoc triangle
@megan11 Easyaspi314 has given you the answer, should thank him
lol
@skullpatrol Thanks.
:)
um. i was getting there. i was finishing my exam.
is that a question on your exam?
no. it was a pre test
but you should use the pre test as a real test of your ability, no?
so you don't get any nasty surprises on the actual exam
@megan11 are you still there?
@skullpatrol When a question is posted, how is one to know if that is an exam question? Any clues to look for?
@Easyaspi314 usually a test question uses a lot of different ideas, and tests the student's ability to combine them properly.
Still, no way of really knowing.
@Easyaspi314 but we can't be held responsible for students trying to use this web site as a source during a test, that is the teacher's duty, right?
absolutely.
yall. i wasn't getting graded on the pre-test. i go to an online school so i only meet with my teachers a few times a week. she encourages us to get help if we are stuck on a problem for more then and hour and this question i was. but i knew how to do it i just forgot. i only wanted to be guided.
They are only hurting themselves by cheating, they will find out in higher level math courses that the skills needed to keep up with the work load are just not there...
...and it will be too late by then :(
@megan11 you learn a lot by trying to get yourself un-stuck
Learning and understanding is a very personal activity, good problem solvers learn from their mistakes.
I did not cheat it was a pre-test. Your putting me down and it ind of hurts. i didn't realize i couldn't ask for help. @skullpatrol
I'm not saying you cheated, I'm just talking about the learning and understanding process :)
