could someone help me with the types of bonds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Would this help? http://www.etap.org/demo/Chemistry/chem3/instruction1tutor.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i looked at my notes when doing it, and followed what they said, but i kept getting it wrong

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

If I have to do it I'll guess ACBD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i put. but it says its wrong

thomaster (thomaster):

To start with, ionic bonds only conduct electricity when the compound is in the liquid state. So B is the first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

thomaster (thomaster):

What do you expect from a metallic bond? Do metals conduct electricity when they're molten?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think.

thomaster (thomaster):

They do yea, but I see there's no option for that. So metallic would be C I guess

thomaster (thomaster):

anyways, molecular compounds do not conduct electricity whether they're in liquid or solid state.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it will be d

thomaster (thomaster):

you have to take the temperature into account too I think. molecular could be A or D so it depends on what covalent would be. covalent networks also don't conduct electricity. covalent networks solids are usually very strong bonds so you would expect a high melting point. So my best guess would be BDCA
