Molecular/Covalent Bond (compound) Naming: S2O CO4 Cl8O7 Br2F5 (All Numbers are subscripts!)
To name a molecular element: Name of the 1st element + the Base name of 2nd element. And in front of each element, you have prefixes.
Prefixes : mono is the prefix for "1" di = 2 tri= 3 tetra= 4 penta= 5 hexa= 6 hepta= 7 octa = 8 nona= 9 deca= 10
Example : CO = Carbon Monoxide
Example 2 - Si2Br6 (2 and 6 are subscripts :). So it would be So it would be Disilicon (because there are two silicons) and Hexabromide (because there are 6 Bromines). So, Disilicon Hexabromide.
Do you kind of understand how I explained it? :\
So would the first one be, Disulfide monoxide. ---I'm using an Oxidation sheet to get the sulfide.
Yep! :)
Here's a video that helped me understand this better (If you're still having trouble). And yes, I used a couple of his examples xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJn76CR70oU
Thanks a lot.
