How many moles of potassium are represented by 7.85 ✕ 1024 potassium atoms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. of moles = (no. of atoms)/6.022x10^23

OpenStudy (kainui):

A mole is just a way of talking about stuff you have a lot of. Everyone does this normally, and it's not really that weird. If someone asks a baker how many muffins he has, he's probably not going to say he has 72 muffins, he'll probably say he just finished baking 6 dozen muffins. Similarly, if you ask a chemist how many water molecules are in a cup of water they'll probably not say that there are 8428000000000000000000000 molecules, he'll more likely say he just poured about 14 moles. So it's just a way of thinking about it that makes us lazy people from saying so many damn zeroes.
