Find the Points of Inflection at x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\LARGE y = x(x-3)^{\frac{2}{5}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can somebody check this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In your second derivative, you are missing a parenthesis. The 2/5 should have distributed to both terms inside the first block eventually leaving you with (4/5)(x-3) instead of (2/5)(x-3) in your final answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You may not see it the same way I do, but regardless, there should be a 2/5 in front of the second term in your first block (the first time you took the second derivative)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\large \frac{2}{5}(x-3)^{\frac{-8}{5}}[\frac{ -3 }{ 5 }x + (x-3) +(x-3)]\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wouldn't call it simplified, but I think its correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would I simplify \[(\frac{30}{7})(\frac{9}{7})^{\frac{2}{5}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ick! I don't think I would... it seems to only get uglier.
