This has to do with the schrodinger equation. I was hoping someone could advise me on how to approach these questions maybe even a short explanation on how to solve them, i most certainly don't want the answers.

So what's your current approach? What kinds of things are you currently doing? I need to kind of gauge your skill level to give appropriate advice basically.

Most introductory texts that discuss the equation at all solve your first problem, a particle confined to a one-dimensional "box." Next, you are expected to solve a similar problem using the procedures done for the first.

OpenStudy (kainui):

I suggest picking a homonuclear diatomic molecule, but it really doesn't matter too much.

We'll thanks for the replies. (I have a decent background in math i've done differential equations and multivariable calc) i've been taking this class online, they've been gone through the concepts but not on how to actually approach the problems. I also read part of the book. Like, for the first, i'm just not sure by what they mean "family of wave functions". Okay, would doing oxygen gas be a bad idea, because of the double bond?

Yeah, considering part 2 or whatever of the question says explicitly that it needs a single bond. Probably something like a halogen would be a good pick.
