.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

X is water lol just kidding

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

low boiling point = covalent

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

I am not so sure about this but I am quite certain that X is covalent while Y Z are ionic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hang on, I am going to write my answer and then you can check it?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

ok :)

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

usually ionic bonds will have higher melting and boiling point and high conductivity based on these properties can u guess?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

ionici substances don't conduct electricity as solids, so Y can't be ionic. It is also MALLEABLE, which is a key indicator of metallic bonding

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and what about X?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

look at what it does (and doesn't do)

OpenStudy (jfraser):

yup

OpenStudy (jfraser):

and doesn't condut electricity as a solid, but it does as a liquid

OpenStudy (jfraser):

right
