HELP ME PLEASE. ILL GIVE YOU A MEDAL.
What does a set of four quantum numbers tell you about an electron? Compare and contrast the locations and properties of two electrons with quantum number sets (4, 3, 1, +½) and (4, 3, -1, +½).
ok this isnt horribly hard to figure out the first number is the principle energy level this is which orbital the element furthest electron is the 2nd number is the amount of orbitals in that sublevel the next number is the electron capacity of that sublevel and the last number is the direction of the electron spin
I appreciate your answer but I don't understand it. Sorry.
@aloni__ help me.
sorry :(
sorry i was doing something but hold on i'll help you @kendallnicole
The first number is the principle quantum number and tells you the energy level of the electron The second number is the orbital quantum number and tells you the orbital angular momentum of the electron. The third number is the magnetic quantum number and tells you the configuration of the orbit given a specific orbital angular momentum. The fourth number is the spin of the electron (up or down). Those two electrons are both in the 4th energy level, with an orbital quantum number of 3 (f shell), but with different configurations (the projection of their orbital angular momentum to a specified axis is different). They are both spin up.
