A steel wire, 150m long at 10degrees c. Find its change in length as the temperature changes from 10 to 45 degrees celcius.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

steel coefficient of thermal expansion, b, is approximately 1 x 10^-5/ oC. L' = L [1 + b(45-10)] L'-L= (150m) (35 x10^-5) = 0.05m
