How do you balance chemical equations.. Question will come.
\[AgNO _{3} + MgCl _{2} \rightarrow AgCl + Mg(NO _{3})_{2}\]
What do you know about balancing equations?
2AgNO3+MgCl2→2AgCl+Mg(NO3)2
make each of the element have the same ratio of them on both sides of the equation. The reactants and the products. Take for example in your question AgNO3+MgCl2→AgCl+Mg(NO3)2 NO3 in AgNO3 ( reactant ) vs (NO3)2 in Mg(NO3)2 What is their different ? The ratio of the \[NO _{3}^{-}\] polyatomic ion in the reactants site to that of the \[NO _{3}^{-}\] polyatomic ion in the products site is 1:2 So we will have to put 2 in the front of AgNO3 to balance the \[NO _{3}^{-}\] polyatomic ions on each side of the equation. Try to play around with the numbers and I am sure you will be able to balance equations in no time. The key thing in Balancing Equations is Practice,Practice,Practice !
Thanks.. This was the only one I had trouble with in 46 problems ugg.
