Find the common denominator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You would find the common denominator first. Then you would add the two fractions are if they were simple fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{9}{x}+\frac{5}{x-2}\]\[=\frac{9}{x}*\frac{(x-2)}{(x-2)}+\frac{5}{x-2}*\frac{x}{x}\]\[=\frac{9*(x-2)+5*x}{x*(x-2)}\]\[=\frac{9x-18+5x}{x^2-2x}\]\[=\frac{14x-18}{x^2-2x}\]...And if you have to factor...\[=\frac{2(7x-9)}{x(x-2)}\]
