Please help me with sigma bonds. I don't get how to do this at all. The question is attached. I need it explained also, please!

On carbon: 4 bonds = \(sp^3\), no free p orbitals 3 bonds = \(sp^2\), 1 free p orbital 2 bonds = \(sp\), 2 free p orbitals
free = unhybridized
i don't understand the concept of this at all
how exactly do you come up with the answer? what should you know to get the answer?
for this u should no about the hybridization and the when sigma and pie bonds are formed :) and why they are formed :) this all u can understand by stdying the hybridization of atomic orbitals :)
