The average of a function on a interval [a,b] equals the integral of the function over the interval divided by the length of the interval. What is the average of f(x)=x^2 over the interval [0,5] ? I don't understand how to find out the answer. I have been looking at examples but I am just completely lost.

\[\frac{1}{5}\int_0^5x^2dx\]

easy enough integral to compute right? then divide the result by \(5\) because that is the length of the interval \([0,5]\)

Ah okay thank you!
