A solution is formed by mixing 50.0 ml of 0.015 m NaOH with 50.0 ml of 0.010 m HNO3. Is this solution acidic or basic and what is the ph of the solution?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Well, find the the number of moles of the ions. See if the H+ and OH- are equal. If so, it's basic because all of them turn into water. If H+ is more, then it is acidic because acids have H+ floating around. If OH- is more, it's basic because you can guess why. To find the pH, use the formula pH=-log(H+) or pH=14+log(H+)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Sorry I'm answering in a casual way. I am giddy right now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do i figure out if its equal or not?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

You use the number of moles given by the formula n=mv where m is the molarity and v is volume,
