Parametric motion. Given the two derivatives dy/dt and dx/dt I don't understand why you can't find dy/dx and integrate it to find distance travelled. Why shouldn't it work, instead of integrating the speed equation I was told to use?

dy/dx = (dy/dt)/(dx/dt)

To xxferrocixx I know that - so I found dy/dx and integrated it from 0-4 to find total distance travelled in 4 seconds. My friend says what I should have done was integrate the speed formula and I don't understand why my way doesn't work
