OpenStudy (minimato):

Provide two written definitions of an oxidation-reduction reaction and for each definition tell which reactant is reduced and which is oxidized. Then tell which of the two definitions is the most comprehensive.

OpenStudy (minimato):

I have no idea what this question is asking me for? What do they mean two definitions? As in, describe oxidation and then describe reduction? And what do they mean most comprehensive?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

oxidation and reduction can be explained on two basis one is ont he basis of electrons and other is on the basis of Hydrogen and oxygen Addition of H and removal of O is called reduction and addition of O and removal of H is called Oxidation in case of electrons the definition is some what like this loss of electron is oxidation gain of electrons is redution

OpenStudy (minimato):

Thanks! But I already had guessed the answer (1st definition: gain/loss of oxygen, 2nd definition: gain/loss of electrons). But, again, thanks for answering ^^

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

OpenStudy (minimato):
