That's not what you wrote. You wrote: \( (\dfrac{6}{x} + 1 ) + (\dfrac{9}{2} x + 2 ) \) but I think you meant to write: \( \left(\dfrac{6}{x + 1} \right) + \left(\dfrac{9}{2x + 2} \right) \)

You have 2 denominators, x + 1 and 2x + 2. 2x + 2 factors into 2(x + 1). Now look again at the denominators: x + 1 and 2(x + 1) The LCD is 2(x + 1) By multiplying the first fraction by 2/2, you will have the same denominator, 2(x + 1), in both fractions. Then you can add them.
