Will fluorine form an anion or a cation? Why?

OpenStudy (rane):

Fl has a neagtive charge so it will attract the positive electrode. so it will form an anion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Flourine is the most electronegative atom..hence it has a tendency to always attract electrons and gain a negative charge Although other atoms eg. Chlorine sometimes form a cation in the presence of a more electronegative atom.. But fluorine will always form an anion
