What significant change to the atom model did Bohr make

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

He proposed the solar system model...but it turned out to be wrong.

OpenStudy (praxer):

Bohr stated that only those circular orbits are possible as the stationary energy states of an electron, where the angular momentum is an integral multiple of h/2pi . Moreover as a correction to the rutherford's model. This model could state more effectively about the stability of the atom. As in the Rutherford's model the electron developed a spiral motion. But in this model electrons had defined stationary states.

@ChiefMikedinero did you understand this.

Like is the three ways it is

OpenStudy (praxer):

@ChiefMikedinero i didn't get u..... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you list three ways that the bohr model is good ?

OpenStudy (praxer):

1. This model could explain easily the spectral lines seen in the hydrogen atom. 2. About the stability of an atom, i.e. as a correction to rutherford's limitation. 3. It explained about the matter waves associated with the particle matter i.e. the electron.
