All of the following are true of an element in Group 17 except It will bond in pairs. It will only be a solid. It will be one electron short of a full valence. It will have an electron configuration of 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p5.

It is C, right?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

C is true, group 17 have 7 valence electrons (they need 8) B is not true, any element can be a solid, gas or liquid depending on the environment (T, P, etc.) D is not true either, group 17 elements won't necessarily have \(3p^5\) has the valence electrons. For example, bromine ends on \(4p^5\)... it's true that they will all end on a \(Xp^5\) though.

@aaronq thank you, i just wanted to be sure. :)
