For a fraction divided by a fraction, invert the bottom fraction and multiply instead.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
12x-96/x^2-4x-32*3x+3/6x^2-6x-12
Like that.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Which is
12x-96*3x+3 / x^2-4x-32*6x^2-6x-12
Now u just have to factor and simplify.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
((12x - 96) / (x^2 - 4x - 32)) / ((6x^2 - 6x - 12) / (3x + 3)) =>
(12x - 96) * (3x + 3) / ((x^2 - 4x - 32) * (6x^2 - 6x - 12)) =>
12 * 3 * (x - 8) * (x + 1) / ((x - 8) * (x + 4) * 6 * (x^2 - x - 2)) =>
36 * (x - 8) * (x + 1)) / (6 * (x - 8) * (x + 4) * (x - 2) * (x + 1)) =>
6 / ((x + 4) * (x - 2)) =>
6 / (x^2 + 4x - 2x - 8) =>
6 / (x^2 + 2x - 8)
